We adore Trader Joe’s. When we lived in Chicago, we shopped there almost exclusively for our groceries. Not only does it offer interesting, creative, unique products, but the prices are great too. We felt like we saved money–despite all the goat cheese we purchased–versus the big-box grocery chains.
We’ve relocated, and the nearest Trader Joe’s resides about 20 minutes away, which is a bummer. We still patronize it whenever convenient. Every visit, we return home with something new. Something fun. Something that we hadn’t, until that moment, realized that we needed. One such product is this Everything But The Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend. Like the name implies, it resembles what one might find on an everything bagel. It contains sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sea salt flakes, dried garlic, and dried onions. If this Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend had existed in biblical times, the wise men would’ve shown up with it and left the myrrh at home.
Associated with a bagel, the seasoning actually works on a lot of food. Almost every Sunday, we prepare a breakfast of this simple omelet with soy sauce, sriracha, Everything but The Bagel Sesame Seasoning, and scallions. Routine is not our thing, so you know that it’s delicious.
The seasoning also livens up scrambled eggs. It’s remarkable how much flavor a couple shakes adds.
But, there’s more! Have you heard of avocado toast? Yes, that’s a thing (joking). Toast a piece of bread. Layer sliced avocado. Layer smoked salmon. Sprinkle on Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend. Eat up! We wanted to make this a recipe post, but that seems far too simple.

Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast
Ingredients
- One piece of bread (or half of a bagel)
- One half of an avocado
- Two ounces of smoked salmon
- Everything But The Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend, to taste
Directions
Toast the bread (or bagel). Layer sliced avocado. Layer smoked salmon. Sprinkle on Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning Blend. Eat up!
