You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em

G@H's Last Bell and Banana Peppers of the Season

If you, like us at G@H, reside in a temperate climate, the cold has come. Many areas are experiencing or expecting a mix of wintery wetness. We held out as long as we could. An army of bed sheets nobly guarded our vegetable garden against a few hard freezes. But, as Kenny Rogers sang,

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealin’s done.

The time has come to let the garden go. This morning, we held one final, ceremonious harvest.  It’s been a bountiful season. Thanks for the memories – and for the strawberries, basil, oregano, lettuce, banana peppers, bell peppers, jalapenos and tomatoes of all shapes and sizes.

We’ll see you in the Spring.
