We’ve adopted a new tradition. Every Friday morning, we drive-thru Wendy’s for breakfast on the way to work. Why? It’s hard to say. Maybe, we want to reward ourselves for eating yogurt Monday to Thursday. Maybe, we need some additional fuel to survive the final workday. Maybe, we just really like flakey, buttery biscuits. Yeah, that last one, it’s probably that last one.
A behemoth in the fast-food industry has embraced all-day breakfast. It did so with much laudatory self-horn tooting. Fine. We won’t argue against options and flexibility. But, that matters less when the food is lacking. The behemoth has company, though. Fast-food breakfasts are traditionally lackluster.
So, we were pleased to discover what Wendy’s had cooking. It claims to bake its biscuits fresh, and the biscuits do taste fresh. The honey butter chicken biscuit is solid. The artisan egg sandwich trounces its English muffin alternative. We’ve yet to try the burrito. There’s only one letdown: the seasoned home-style potatoes. They’re okay, but they sound and look better than they taste.
Next Friday, stop by Wendy’s for breakfast. Let’s start a viral internet phenomenon. That probably won’t happen, will it? We don’t have the sway. How about this: if you’re hungry and hurried, consider giving a honey butter chicken biscuit a try. We at G@H like it.
