Imperial Stout X – Coconut from Boulevard Brewing Company

Imperial Stout X – Coconut from Boulevard Brewing Company

Imperial Stout X – Coconut from Boulevard Brewing Company

We love the Smokestack Series from Boulevard Brewing Company, especially the limited releases. They are delicious beers. More than that, they are experimental and distinctive and, sometimes, whimsical. The fine folks at Boulevard seem to have a good time conceptualizing and executing these brews. We enjoy drinking them.

Their latest concoction, Imperial Stout X – Coconut, just hit shelves. For the last year or so, Boulevard has tinkered with its Imperial Stout by intermingling flavors. They’ve brewed versions with coffee, Aztec chocolate, and tart cherries.

Now comes coconut. That might be a bit edgy because some people have an irrational aversion to coconut. They despise it. But those fools can relax. Boulevard’s release delivers only a tinge of coconut flavor.

Upon our first sips, we turned to our cohort and asked, “Taste any coconut?” “Nope,” she replied. But then, we let the beer sit an extra second in our mouth, and we got it—that subtle hint of coconut, which is also evident in the beer’s aroma.

If you find Imperial Stout X – Coconut from Boulevard Brewing Company, try it. It’s fun and original. But remember, as every bottle in the Smokestack Series advises, “serve in proper glass.”
