These Baronero Men’s Slip-on Driving Loafers are handsome shoes. They garner compliments whenever we wear them. Comfortable and lightweight, they slip on and off with ease.
We find ourselves in the market for a new bed. We thought we knew what we wanted: a white platform bed with a low-profile headboard. We haven’t found that exact bed. But we did find this one, the drommen king bed from CB2. It’s awesome, isn’t it? Now, it has stolen our hearts. source: CB2.com
If you’re like us, you lose eyeglasses. And, that sucks because they are expensive. Have you heard of Warby Parker? It sells affordable, stylish eyeglasses over the internet. You select five pairs. Warby Parker sends you them to try on. You return the five pairs but order any that you'd like with prescription lens for $95. We have vision insurance. Ours has solid benefits. We get an expensive pair of eyeglasses every two years and new lens annually. The problem comes in holding onto them; we can’t. It’s bad. Really bad. Here again, we find ourselves needing replacements, so we’re turning to Warby Parker. We selected five pairs for the “Home Try-On.” They’ve arrived. And, we need help deciding. Which pair should we buy? 1. The Baxter 2. The Vaughan 3. The Arthur 4. The Walker 5. The Haskell
Our wallet bores us. We buy a new one every year or two, but it’s basically the same wallet. Brown leather. Trifold. Dull. In this wondrous digital age where thermostats learn, robots vacuum and dogs wear boots, the fault falls on our handsome yet conformist shoulders. This tired cycle must end. It’s time to grab our keyboard in search of internet inspiration. Oh, found it. Took 26 seconds. We’re buying this Harris Tweed Plaid Wallet. And, done.
We at G@H have long been intrigued by the knitted tie. Aesthetically, we approve. But, we never quite understood. Is a knitted tie less formal than a traditional one? Is a knitted tie too casual for the office? If so, what’s its utility? Who spends their leisure time with a buttoned top button? Not us. These questions befuddled us. But then, something changed. A flip switched. We were struck by a great truth: the fashion police have no authority over us. Why? Because we make the laws that they purport to enforce. Watch as the legislative process unfolds before your eyes. WHEREAS, knitted ties liven up ordinary workplace attire with texture, color and pattern. WHEREAS, knitted ties coordinate smartly with sport coats and cardigans, dress pants and khakis. WHEREAS, the wearer of a knitted tie projects confidence, creativity and independent...
Thomas Alva Edison didn’t invent the light bulb. But, in 1880, he made electric light practical by developing an incandescent bulb that burned for 1,200 hours. That’s history. And, it’s unimportant. Actually, it’s important. Very important. Just not important here. Humans are fickle. Someone devises something. People love it. Someone makes it better. People abandon the old for the new. This cycle repeats and repeats. Then, a future someone says, “Hey, remember that old thing a bunch of old things ago, that looked cool. Let’s bring that back.” And, we do. Edison light bulbs have resurfaced. And, they are justifiably in vogue. Each bulb has an intricate filament structure, such as “square cage” and “quad loop.” They emit a soft, warm light. Compared to ordinary bulbs, Edison bulbs aren’t cheap, but they are so nifty. To aptly exhibit an Edison...
An oil painting hung above the fireplace says sophistication. But, a gentleman must exercise prudence when selecting his artwork. It will serve as the room’s focal point and speak volumes about its exhibitor. It should be a portrait. Frankly, the mantle is no place for a painting of a wheat field or a unicorn (unless mounted by a king/prince/general in full military regalia). The portrait should convey power and confidence while embracing its own whimsy. You want visitors to grasp instantly that you are a formidable man endowed with great intellect, humor and humility. Some gentlemen will opt for a self-portrait. Done well, this can triumph superbly, but executed poorly, you may broadcast a message of ego and arrogance. Remember, no one likes someone who takes himself too seriously. Those opting for self-portraits should go for quirky or screwball. Consider,...
