We consider ourselves lovers of music, i.e., music lovers. Nothing beats a live show. The collective energy. The reverberating rhythms. The unadulterated sound. We monitor local events, and when a band that we dig comes into town, we scoop up tickets. Those musicians don’t always accommodate our schedules, and sometimes, they book shows during the week. A late Tuesday spent jamming out can mean a tough Wednesday. Actually, as we grow a bit older and a little less resilient, it makes Thursday and Friday difficult too. Whatever. We refuse to surrender our youth and vitality.
We recently caught Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. They filled the theater and had everyone clapping, stomping and shimmying all night.
We’ve followed Nathaniel Rateliff for a couple of years. He always had the voice and the soul. Here’s a song from 2013 that caught our attention.
With the Night Sweats, though, Rateliff has found his sound—roots rock with a heavy shade of blues. You’ve surely heard “S.O.B.” on the radio.
We really enjoy “I Need Never Get Old.”
“Shake” is hauntingly addictive.
If Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats play anywhere in your vicinity, you’d be a fool to miss it—even on a Tuesday.
