It’s no secret that we at G@H fancy ourselves amateur chefs. We enjoy practicing technique and mastering recipes. Someday, we might become good. For now, we take pride that our food ranges from edible to highly edible.
We made risotto on a recent weekend. Our guests seemed impressed. And, of course, we devoured it. But it took about an hour and a half. That’s fine for Saturday night. During the week, though, “ain’t nobody got time for that.”
We’re busy, in-demand gentlemen. Often, we need to eat quickly yet still yearn to eat well. We found a prized ally in our struggle: the Lekue Omelet Cooker. It makes an omelet in less than three minutes . . . in the microwave. Hold on! Stay with us! Yes, we said omelet and microwave in the same sentence. We know that sounds absurd and terrible, but it’s not—scout’s honor.
We made the atop-pictured Greek omelet. We sautéed mushrooms and shallots. We threw in spinach to wilt it. Putting the cooked ingredients in the Lékué, we added two beaten eggs with a splash of milk. We sprinkled in feta cheese, salt and pepper.
Behold the Lékué’s silicone magic. Microwave it for two minutes. Flip it and microwave for another 30 seconds. You have a fluffy and delicious omelet—not just for breakfast anymore.
