We lose things. When we were younger, we lost a lot of things. As mature gentlemen, we lose fewer things, but they tend to be more valuable. Watches. Prescription glasses. Winter jackets.
Take it from us: losing car keys is the pits. One morning, we awoke, showered, shaved, dressed and were ready to walk out the door to a dentist appointment when we realized that we didn’t have our car keys. We searched and searched. Under furniture. In pockets of worn clothing. Behind sofa cushions. Finally, we had to call the dentist and cancel because we couldn’t find our damn car keys. Embarrassing. Inconvenient. Costly. That is, we had to pay a cancelation fee.
Our unfortunate habit of losing things is well known. And so, a caring individual gifted us with two Tile Pro Sport Tracker devices, which we attached to our car keys. These Tile devices use a Bluetooth connection to communicate with smartphones that have the Tile app. With a single tap of the app, an alarm on the device rings. Lost items, including lost keys, become found items.
Although we greatly admire the idea, we were skeptical about the performance. We doubted the strength of the Bluetooth signal. Would we need to be next to our lost item? In the same room as it? Based on our limited testing, though, the signal reaches through the walls and around the house--upstairs and down. The alarm rings plenty loud. Looks like, we won’t be missing any more dentist appointments. Purhaps, we should get another one for our wallet.
