Our Mowing has gone the way of our lawn: Green

Our Mowing has gone the way of our lawn: Green

GreenWorks G-MAX Mower

Combustion engines are for suckers. We reached that conclusion after hours of toiling with our gas-powered lawn mower. Listen, we tried everything. We refreshed the fuel. We replaced the gaskets. We cleaned the carburetor and fuel line. We prayed. What reward did we reap? Sputter, sputter, Sputter. Clunk.

Meanwhile, our blood pressure rose, and our grass grew long. Our mower, well, we finally kicked it to the curb. Burned too many times, we resolved to change course. Electricity. It’s the future.

For almost two months, we’ve used the GreenWorks G-MAX Mower. Consider us converts.

Skeptical? The G-MAX Mower isn’t for everyone. Admittedly, it’s different.GreenWorks G-MAX Mower

  • It doesn’t feel the same. Much lighter, the G-MAX Mower traverses the lawn with ease. We used to count all that straining and grunting as our weekly workout. We’re just lazy now.
  • It doesn’t smell the same. What’s mowing without fumes and spillage? When our nostrils burned, we felt like men.
  • It doesn’t sound the same. Before, we had to blare our headphones to hear anything while mowing. Now, regular volume sounds fine. The G-MAX Mower is even quiet enough to mow in the morning. Since it won’t wake your neighbors, you’re out of excuses.
  • It doesn’t cost the same. Go ahead and ditch that red canister. Of course, we like supporting the local economy and when we bought gas we felt like patriots. Wait. Where does gas come from again?

The G-MAX Mower has one major limitation. It’s an obvious one: battery life. The G-MAX Mower comes with a standard LI-ION Battery and an extended LI-ION Battery. We need both batteries, fully charged, to conquer our lawn, which is about 5,000 square feet.

Under some conditions, though, that’s not enough juice. Twice, we’ve gone too long between mows. With longer grass, we mowed slower and exhausted both batteries before finishing. Having to wait several hours to mow again was neither fun nor ideal. But, neither is gasoline. You can buy an extra battery for around $87.00.

The G-MAX Mower’s batteries will work with other GreenWorks products, including trimmers, blowers, polesaws and chain saws.

Be a sucker no more. This summer, electrify your lawn with a GreenWorks G-MAX Mower.
